Union Volunteer Emergency Squad has been the first line of response for our community for nearly seven decades. Trained volunteers, modern equipment, and a genuine commitment to every person who calls on us.
About Us
Union Volunteer Emergency Squad was founded in 1956 by a small group of residents who believed that no one in our community should face a medical emergency alone. What began as a handful of volunteers answering the phone has grown into a full-service emergency medical response organization — but our mission has never changed.
Every member of our squad is a trained, certified volunteer who gives their time so that you don't have to face a crisis without support. We respond to medical calls, provide scene safety, and work alongside Broome County EMS and local fire departments to ensure the fastest possible care for our neighbors.
What We Do
Our volunteers are trained to handle a wide range of medical emergencies, from cardiac events to trauma, always with the goal of stabilizing and comforting the patient.
Our EMTs and paramedics respond to medical emergencies around the clock — cardiac arrests, breathing difficulties, allergic reactions, and more.
Vehicle collisions, falls, and acute injuries require calm, skilled hands. Our team provides on-scene trauma stabilization and transport support.
We sponsor and staff first aid stations at local events, host CPR and first aid training, and support public health initiatives in the Binghamton area.
When patients need to be moved safely — whether to a hospital or between care facilities — our crew provides reliable ambulance transport.
Our dispatch team coordinates calls, tracks unit availability, and ensures the right resources reach the right place at the right time.
We invest in continuous education so every volunteer maintains the highest level of readiness. New recruits are welcomed and mentored through certification.
Our Community
Union Volunteer Emergency Squad is made up of people who live, work, and raise families right here in Endicott and the surrounding communities.
We set up information booths, staff safety demonstrations, and partner with schools and senior centers on health education.
Whether you're a certified EMT or simply want to help, there's a place for you. We offer training, mentorship, and a supportive crew.
Our vehicles and medical supplies are regularly updated so our volunteers have everything they need to provide the best possible care.
